Onida Airconditioner-ORDEAL OR BLISS-WHICH WAY YOU CHOOSE?

I made two mistakes in my life. The first one-I bought a split AC for my home two years back.

The second mistake-I chose the brand ONIDA. I could not realize my mistakes till my AC stopped cooling my room. Being an ardent believer of brand power I booked for service through Adonis Electronics, the authorized service agent for brand Onida. I booked the complaint on 12-04-2013. (Complaint number-1304A756380177).

The satan with two horns and one tail started cursing me.

No AC mechanic bothered to visit my home. I got the contact info of Mr.Muneeswaran, service centre in charge, Saidapet, Chennai.(8939820771). As he failed to answer my call, I had to endure the ordeal of calling the customer care again. Dealing with the customer care executives is pathos from Shakespeare era. We have to politely answer their queries like your name, mobile number, address, split or window AC, AC tonnage, in warranty or out of warranty etcetera like an obedient school boy. It might be your hundredth call on the same complaint. You are expected to answer all these queries for the hundredth time.

Let us revisit the satanic verses. As if to reward my patience by answering the queries a CC executive blessed me with the contact info of Mr. Raja, Area Coordinator (service), Adonis Electronics, Nungambakkam. LL-43583386. Mobile-9080492453. Raja ensured a call from Muneeswaran and a visit by a mechanic. Operation success but the patient died. The mechanic identified that the compressor was faulty. But nobody from Adonis bothered to take the compressor from my home. Onida offers 5 year warranty for compressor. I bought the AC two years back only. Now Mr. Raja played the role of   Muneeswaran  by not attending  my calls.

Again I was lashed by the satanic tail. One more call to customer care and one more trophy won. I am now armed with the mobile number (8190989679) of Mr.Karunakaran who is superior to Raja in Adonis hierarchy. Two mechanics came, without the necessary equipment to diagnose the problem. No more visits by mechanics again. Karunakaran also blacklisted my calls.

One small footnote here…It took lot of persuasive skills to get these men hear my complaint. “How you got my number?” was the caller tone of one of these officials.

 “The customer care people torture me by giving my number to all and sundry fellas” was the ring tone I received from the other fellow.

I faced the satan again. This time also I won a trophy. I got Mr.Munuswamy’s number (9941009898). Yes, you are correct. He is superior to Karunakaran. I did not get the above numbers straight away from customer care staff. It is a long journey getting one number (at one instance it was the number of an (v) ex-employee of Adonis) and trailing the numbers till getting the prize catch. No ordinary mortal can endure this ordeal for the sake of AC service.

You are not a customer for them. They will treat you like a KASHTAMAR (person of nuisance value in Tamil). They will neither have the courtesy of returning your calls nor will they think of solving your issues.

I got enlightened with the gospel of truth. If you buy Onida AC….

You must have the mental endurance to get the needed info from the customer (un) care.

You must do a Ph.D. thesis on who is who of Adonis hierarchy.

You must have the courage to face the threats thrust on you by the mechanics.

Owner’s ordeal. Neighbor’s bliss (if not an Onida buyer).

My A.C. problem not yet resolved. I tweeted to Onida. I entered my complaint in Onida facebook. No use! What Onida A.C. does is heating my temper. Not cooling my home.
